Baltimore to Host One-Stop/Faith-Based Symposium

Baltimore, MD – On Thursday, September 19, 2002, Mayor Martin O’Malley will welcome over 200 faith leaders, workforce development partners, and local, state and federal legislators and government officials to “Building Faith-Based Partnerships,” a symposium sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, in partnership with the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board, Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED), Maryland Faith Partnership Initiative, Mayor’s Office of Children, Youth and Family Services and Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations – Office of Jobs Services and Office of Employment Training. Designed to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between the faith community and Maryland One-Stops, the event will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at New Shiloh Baptist Church, 2100 North Monroe Street, Baltimore, MD 21217. The day-long event will include a town hall meeting and community caucus meetings, led by a panel of community leaders and experts. The agency’s One-Stop Career Center Network is comprised of five One-Stops that are located throughout the city and offer a variety of services, ranging from basic computer literacy training to quarterly career fairs. The Career Center Network is a service of the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development and multiple workforce partners. |
