YouthWorks applauds its corporate and community-based partners for endorsing the YouthWorks 2002 summer jobs program. This year’s program has been the most successful to date by providing employment opportunities to 5,500 Baltimore City youth. 
On Tuesday, September 24, 2002, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development and Baltimore Workforce Investment Board Youth Council will honor donors and employers for their contributions. Invited guests include congressional, state and city officials, and the business community. 
Mr. James Hamlin, Community Relations and Training and Development Manager for United Parcel Service (UPS), will discuss the impact of the YouthWorks 2002 Campaign with program participants and invited guests.
Background: YouthWorks is Mayor O’Malley’s summer jobs program. Each year, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development takes a leading role in providing positive, work-based learning experiences for Baltimore’s youth. Participants from all of Baltimore’s communities take part in this enriching, employment experience that lays a foundation for future career success.
