WHAT: Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will hold a press conference to honor Congressman Elijah E. Cummings for the many years of strong support he has given to Baltimore City’s workforce development initiatives, many of which have been delivered through the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development’s Career Center Network, particularly in the area of providing services for ex-offenders who are looking to turn their lives around and re-enter the job market.

WHEN: Friday, June 17, 2011; 9:15 a.m.

WHERE: The U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Workforce Development Council’s annual meeting, Holiday Ballroom 5, second floor, Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel, 401 W. Pratt St., Baltimore, 443-573-8700. BACKGROUND: Prior to Congressman Cummings’ keynote address at the annual meeting of the USCM Workforce Development Council, he will be honored by Mayor Rawlings-Blake. The meeting, which will be attended by council members and other workforce development professionals from major cities across the country, is an ideal venue to recognize the Congressman’s contributions and highlight the positive results Baltimore City has achieved in the area of workforce development, especially in connecting ex-offenders and at-risk young adults with resources to successfully enter the labor pool.
