Workforce Challenge 

On September 28, 2016, 1st Choice Staffing held a recruitment event in the East Baltimore community at the Eastside One-Stop Career Center. Recruiters Kim Roane and Stanna Davis worked with Business Services staff from the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development to secure interview space, promote the jobs and assist job seekers with the 1st Choice application process

Workforce Solution

This opportunity provided ten Baltimore City residents to interview for administrative, engineering and customer service positions. 

Outcomes & Benefits

Ms. Roane stated, “We met some great Administrative Assistants, Executive Assistants, Civil Engineers, and Accountants. We look forward to building a strong relationship with the Mayor’s Office of Employment. We were extremely impressed with the candidates.”

Taisha Ellis

Taisha Ellis Brown never imagined she’d lose her job and become homeless. Until May 2019, Taisha consistently maintained employment and managed to care for her special needs son and family. However, her demanding family responsibilities caused scheduling conflicts with her job and she was eventually terminated. This caused a ripple effect that led her to move her family into transitional housing. Eager to make this a temporary living situation, Taisha needed a job ASAP.

Meet Yolanda

Hospital Security

In 2018 Yolanda Burnett moved to Baltimore from Arizona to be closer to her family. She was interested in getting a job at Johns Hopkins Hospital, given its stellar reputation and that a family member was successfully employed there.
