The Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) is currently recruiting for Second Chance’s tenth deconstruction training class, to begin later in November. The program, a longtime collaboration between Second Chance and MOED, provides training in marketable, “green economy” job skills to those with significant barriers to employment.

City of Baltimore is officially launching an exciting pilot with the technology company, Apploi, by installing Apploi’s award-winning job kiosks in the Central Library/State Library Resource Center and at two Mayor’s Office of Employment Development-operated centers: Eastside One-Stop Career Center (open to general public and the Career Academy (open only to school’s students). The kiosks both expand access to jobs – reaching those without internet or computer access - and transform how jobseekers interact with companies – by enabling jobseekers to showcase their personalities and skills and respond to questions (including video and audio) set by employers.

Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced that more than 1,250 Baltimore City residents will be employed at the Horseshoe Baltimore casino, representing 51 percent of the staff hired as of August 21. After extensive recruitment and outreach efforts coordinated by the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED), in partnership with Horseshoe Baltimore, city residents will comprise a majority of the more than 2,400 employees that will staff the gaming facility, which celebrates its grand opening tonight.
