Baltimore, Maryland (August 2, 2016) Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Greater Baltimore Committee President and CEO Donald C. Fry, and other community leaders will highlight 2016 YouthWorks milestones and successes.

YouthWorks is Baltimore City’s summer jobs program for residents between the ages of 14 and 21. In 2016 YouthWorks offered summer jobs to more than 8,000 youth and young adults, matching the 60 percent increase in summer job offers achieved in 2015. Each year through YouthWorks, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development connects teens and young adults to meaningful summer work experiences throughout the Baltimore City region. Participants work in a wide variety of industries, including health care, hospitality/tourism, finance, construction, the arts, and environmental/green jobs.

Code in the Schools partnered with the Mayor’s Office Of Employment Development to create YouthWorks job sites, called "CodeWorks." Participants are building their technology skills, including computer programming, front-end web development, video game development and Microsoft certifications. One of four CodeWorks sites is located at the Union Baptist Church.

WHEN:  Wednesday, August 3, 2016, 10:00 a.m.
